Ordonez was thrown out at home trying to score on a Miguel Cabrera double in the bottom of the third inning, and was injured while sliding into home.

He was helped off the field by trainers and later diagnosed with a fracture, with an expected recovery time of 6-to-8 weeks.

Ramon Santiago took over at designated hitter for Ordonez.
