Valentin suffered the injury in the fourth inning of Friday's game against the Dodgers, when he fouled a ball off his leg.
This is the second time Valentin has hurt his right leg this season. He suffered a partial tear of the ACL in his right knee and was on the disabled list from April 29 until June 7.
For the season, Valentin is hitting .241 with three homers and 18 RBI.
To take his spot, the Mets recalled infielder Anderson Hernandez from Triple-A New Orleans.
